e.- Valentine's has come and gone - apologies for skipping FF on the big day but I figured there was already too much romantic content on the web. However, today I bring you one of my favourite romantic comedies of all times - How to lose a guy in 10 days.

The apps you shouldn't be living without #1

E.- I was pretty happy when I got my phone. Not only because it was a shiny gold iPhone, which, let's face it, isn't hard on anyone's eyes, but also because I could finally immerse myself in the endless world of apps for mobile phones. I had a smartphone before - an HTC wildfire to be exact - but poor thing could't handle anything other than Instagram, and it even struggled with that. You can imagine my happiness when I went from having a smartphone whose IQ wasn't that high to practically a hand sized computer.

Anyways, the world of apps. It takes a while to get to know which ones you actually need, with my knowledge coming from various sources like friends, the internet, other bloggers, etc. To make your life easier, I thought I'd share a few of my most precious digital aids.

P.- É desnecessário dizer que fiquei bastante contente quando recebi o meu telemóvel. O facto de ser o iPhone dourado que eu tanto queria teve alguma coisa a ver com isso, mas foi mais o facto de finalmente poder explorar o mundo das aplicações digitais. O meu telemóvel anterior já era considerado 'smart', mas de esperto não tinha nada. Peço desculpa a quem tenha o mesmo modelo, um HTC wildfire S, mas o meu funcionava como um Nokia 3310 (o que não é necessariamente mau mas não o que esperava de um smartphone). Conseguia ir ao Instagram e mal - era um filme para apagar fotos! Agora que já tenho um telemóvel capaz de aguentar mais que uma só aplicação, gostava de partilhar convosco as que mais uso.

I came across this one in a blog just before Christmas, and I swear it was Santa's doing. You know that feeling when you want to listen to something but you don't exactly what? With 8tracks, you can search for a mood, activity, band, music style... you name it. You then get a list of mixes with up to eight songs that correspond to the key words you've searched for. I am an avid shower singer so my mix history includes things like 'shower mix', 'shower jams' and 'The Ultimate Shower Mix'.

Ouvi falar desta num blog mesmo antes do Natal e considerei-a uma prenda adiantada. Com esta aplicação podem pesquisar playlists através de sentimentos, actividades, artistas, etc, e cada uma pode ter até 8 músicas. Eu adoro ouvir música quando tomo banho, por isso 'shower mix' e 'shower jams' são duas playlists recorrentes no meu telemóvel.

Vogue UK

I like to keep up with current affairs, which, in my world, includes the world of fashion. With this app from British Vogue, you get all the deets and breaking news on your phone.

Perfeita para quem quer acompanhar o mundo da moda a todo o momento. A Vogue UK está sempre a cobrir noticias de última hora assim como eventos e festas, por isso podem ter a certeza que vão andar bem informados.

Dreamdays

One of the best parts of going somewhere or doing something is the anticipation of said event. This app allows you to literally count the days until the big day, customising it with a background image. I've counted the days for going home for Christmas and that anticipation made it a little bit more exciting!

Uma das melhores partes de ir a algum lado ou fazer alguma coisa especial é a antecipação. O Dreamdays deixa-vos contar os dias até essa ocasião, e até podem personalizar o acontecimento com uma imagem! Eu estou a contar os dias até voltar a casa para as férias da Páscoa - 54!

BBC iPlayer Radio

I am addicted to BBC radio 1, especially Fearne Cotton's show from 10am to 12.45pm, so I have this one on almost all the time (I'm listening to BBC R1 whilst writing this... incorrigible). The best part of this app is that it has an alarm clock option, so you can wake up listening to the radio. I've inherited this habit from my mum, and it actually works because it stops you from snoozing and going back to sleep (and consequently missing lectures, appointments, work...).

Ora bem, não sei se esta se aplica a toda a gente. Como sabem, eu vivo em Manchester, e ando obcecada com a BBC Radio 1. Com a magia da internet, esta aplicação também funciona em Portugal, e posso-vos dizer que vale a pena. No programa da Fearne Cotton, das 10 da manhã ao 12.45, há um live lounge de vez em quando com bandas e artistas a cantar acusticamente ao vivo uma música original e uma cover. Esta semana adorei a Laura Mvula a fazer uma cover dos Coldplay - podem ouvir aqui.

P.- Como provavelmente muitas de vocês, eu sigo a nossa querida Sara Sampaio muito atentamente nas redes sociais. Ela está entre muitas outras modelos, actrizes e celebridades do mundo da Moda que enchem o meu Instagram, mas as fotos dela têm sempre um gostinho especial por partilharmos a mesma nacionalidade. Tenho sempre orgulho na excelente representação que ela faz de Portugal pelo Mundo fora - é um exemplo vivo não só de beleza, mas de trabalho, dedicação e profissionalismo. 

Elogios à parte, achei que seria interessante fazer um apanhado dos seus últimos looks, já que ela anda muito requisitada nos eventos do momento.

E.- I follow the Portuguese model Sara Sampaio very closely on Social Media and I've been noticing that she has been quite 'social' in the last few weeks. So I though - what better time to assess her fashion choices?  

Custo Barcelona Fashion Show 

No desfile da Custo Barcelona, a Sara estava elegante como sempre mas confesso que não fiquei muito fã da escolha. A Vogue Portugal até o considerou Look do Dia, mas parece-me demasiado 'pesado' para uma jovem tão divertida como ela.

In the Custo Barcelona fashion show, Sara was elegant as always but I confess I wasn't thrilled with the look. Portuguese Vogue even considered it Look of the Day, but to me it just seemed too 'heavy' for such a bubbly young girl like her. 

Shape and Men's Fitness Super Bowl Party

Variando dos tons escuros com este conjunto nude, a Sara arrasou. As franjas são uma das tendências para a Primavera e este vestido Alberta Ferretti faz excelente uso disso, adicionado-lhe um toque brilhante perfeito para uma festa como esta. O decote das costas é a cereja no topo do bolo - adoooooro - e evita que o vestido seja demasiado sóbrio para uma jovem mulher de 22 anos. 

Mixing it up from the dark tones with this nude ensemble, Sara knocked everyone off their socks. Fringes are one of the trends for Spring, and this Alberta Ferretti dress makes excellent use of that fact, adding that party appropriate sparkle. The back cleavage is the cherry on top of the cake - I loooove it - and is key to making this dress appropriate for Sara's young age of 22 years old.

amfAR New York Gala 2014

Este conjunto mais formal foi usado na Gala amfAR em Nova Iorque, organizada em prol da investigação de uma cura para a Sida. Este evento contou com a presença de muitas outras celebridades - Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldrige, Chanel Iman, Kelly Rowland - o que só prova que o estatuto da Sara Sampaio está a elevar-se cada vez mais. Gostei muito deste vestido Alberta Ferretti que ela usou: elegante mas não demasiado formal devido ao seu comprimento mais curto. Os lábios e as unhas em vermelho, e as jóias elegantes dão um toque clássico de sofisticação ao conjunto. 

I loved this Alberta Ferretti dress on Sara - it's elegant but not overly formal due to its shorter length. The red lips and nails, plus the elegant Jack Vartanian jewelerry give a classic sophistication touch to the look.

Modelinia's Models Issue Party

De todos os looks, este é, sem dúvida, o meu preferido. Super atrevido e arrojado, acho-o perfeito para a Sara. Além disso, a saia é do estilista português Diogo Miranda e, apesar deles serem amigos, é de louvar que ela leve nomes da moda portuguesa além fronteiras. E aqueles sapatos? Ai, ai... 

From all the looks this is, by far, my favourite. Sassy and bold, it's the perfect match for Sara. Her skirt is by a portuguese designer, Diogo Miranda, and, even though they are friends,  I think it's fantastic that she takes advantage of events like these to make other Portuguese names known. And those shoes? Oh my...

Podem respirar de alívio - a Sara Sampaio não nos vai deixar ficar mal lá fora. Gosto muito do facto de ela aparecer sempre em conjuntos elegantes, mas também acho que não lhe fazia mal nenhum experimentar um bocadinho mais com cores e estampados, deixando esta fase minimalista para depois. Claro que tudo depende de gostos e personalidades; só espero que isto não seja medo de arriscar e falhar. Sim, porque ela pode arriscar à vontade e ficar linda na mesma!

Us Portuguese can now rest assured that Sara is representing us well. I love the fact that she is always seen in elegant outfits, but I also think that she could experiment a little more with colours and prints, leaving this minimalist phase for later. Of course this depends on tastes and personalities; I just hope this isn't fear of risking and failing.
