Inspiration | Take me to Paris...

Doing the 'If Princesses were Bloggers' post last week got me thinking about Paris. Belle would probably live in Paris if she was a blogger nowadays, and I can imagine her strolling the Champs-Élysées to find yet more ballerina shoes. Adding to that, one my friends just got engaged on top of the Eifell Tower - how amazing is that?

So needless to say I'm missing the city of lights like crazy. I was there this summer - btw, I haven't finished showing you my pictures! - and I absolutely loved it! It wasn't my first time, but I was too little to appreciate my previous trips. And this is why I made this inspiration board, so we can all pop to Paris with a mere glance.

Fazer o post para o desafio 'If Princesses were Bloggers' deixou-me a pensar a Paris. A Bela provavelmente viveria em Paris se fosse um blogger hoje em dia, e consigo imaginá-la a passear pelos Champs-Élysées para comprar mais um par de sabrinas. Como se isto não bastasse, uma amiga minha ficou noiva no topo da Torre Eiffel! Romântico, não?

Por causa disto tudo, é escusado dizer que tenho muitas saudades da cidade das luzes. Fui lá este Verão - ainda não acabei de vos mostrar as fotos! - e adorei! E é por causa disto que fiz este inspiration board, para que possámos todos ir a Paris apenas com um olhar.

Inspiration | Hello December!

December is here and it started as a beautiful sunny day here in Manchester, so I can't complain! Here are a few things I'm looking forward to this month - after all, it's the most wonderful time of the year!

Hot Chocolate (or cold, melted, normal, milk, black, white...)

December is the time for sweet treats! I'm still on a diet though, so I'll need to contain myself, which will not be easy especially around Baci (my all time favourite Xmas chocolate). Hot chocolate is great to warm up after a cold walk home or to sip whilst watching your favourite Christmas film... but I'll get to it.

Christmas Shopping

Some (crazy!) people have started and even finished their Christmas Shopping. I on the other hand, haven't even thought about it... until now. It's officially December so I guess it's a reasonable time to start your list. I love getting my friends and family thoughtful gifts, and if I find anything worth mentioning, I'll let you know.

Christmas Songs

Christmas songs put me in the mood for Christmas, especially Wham and Mariah Carey! However, people who work in retail or who have been really into their Christmas shopping may be sick of them already because retailers start playing them in September... Oops!

Christmas Films

Another December highlight! My all-time favourite is 'Love Actually', and although it's not a classic, it's the only one I really associate with Christmas. I guess it's because I went to see it in the cinema with my parents during the Holiday season when it premiered back in 2003 - good times.

Going home! ♥

As you know, my home is in Portugal and I can't wait to fly there and see my family and friends - special mention to my incredible mum and my super cute godchild! Christmas is the perfect occasion to have some quality time with your family, and that time becomes even more special if you're away from home. Treasure it!

Pois é, Dezembro chegou hoje com um belo dia do sol, pelo menos por estes lados. Este mês traz muitas coisas boas e por isso decidi fazer uma listas dos meus aspectos preferidos de Dezembro!

Chocolate Quente (ou frio, derretido, de leite, preto, branco...)

Este mês é um dos melhores meses para os amantes do chocolate - ou então dos piores se estiveram a fazer 'dieta' como eu! Vou ter que tentar não me tornar numa monstra do chocolate como acontece todos os anos e controlar-me um bocadinho com os Baci para não mandar o esforço de até agora pela janela. Mas digam lá que um chocolate quente não sabe bem a ver um filme num Domingo à tarde? Ou então antes de dormir, mmm...

Compras de Natal

Eu sei que há pessoas que fazem as comprinhas de Natal muito adiantadas, e até há quem já as tenha acabado. Eu cá não sou tão prevenida, mas como já é Dezembro, é altura de começar a pensar nisso. Eu adoro dar coisas fora do normal à minha família e amigos - se encontrar alguma coisa gira eu aviso!

Músicas de Natal

Músicas de Natal despertam em mim o espírito natalício, e hoje foi o primeiro dia em que ouvi as minhas preferidas - All I want for Christmas e Last Christmas - enquanto estava a fazer uma tarte de maçã!

Filmes de Natal

Outro ponto alto de Dezembro - os filmes de Natal. Adoro ver todos os que passam na televisão, mas o meu preferido é o Love Actually (ou O Amor Acontece) - é o único que verdadeiramente inicia a minha época natalícia. Não sei bem porquê mas deve ser por ter ido vê-lo ao cinema com os meus pais quando estreou em 2003. Já lá vão 10 anos... Credo!

Lar doce Lar! ♥

Como sabem eu estou a viver em Manchester e ir para a minha casinha em Braga sabe ainda melhor nesta altura do ano. O Natal é tipicamente dedicado à família, mas torna-se ainda mais importante quando se está longe dos que mais se gosta durante o resto do ano. Aproveitem e desfrutem desta época mágica!

Film Friday | The Pursuit of Happyness

We lead such rushed lives nowadays, that most of us don't stop to think how lucky we are. I've been feeling down because of a few setbacks lately, and difficulties like these can suck away the happiness out of you. But they shouldn't - life is about setbacks and overcoming them, and we just need to find the strength we have within and fight for we want, for what we believe, for what is best for us and for the ones we love. It can also be hard to gain some perspective when setbacks happen, and forget about the bigger picture. This film will put you in your place and remind you of what is important and how strong we can be when there is no other option.

The Pursuit of Happyness is based on a true story, which makes the film even more inspiring. It's about a man who ends up homeless with his son in San Francisco, after life throws him a few setbacks, and how he overcame that with his perseverance. 

Hope you like it and get inspired to do great things!

p.s.- The little boy is Will Smith's actual son! How cute is that?

Hoje em dia andamos sempre a correr e não paramos para pensar na nossa sorte. Tenho andado um pouco em baixo ultimamente por causa de certas dificuldades, e são essas pequenas preocupações que por vezes nos roubam a felicidade. Mas não deviam - todos enfrentamos algum tipo de dificuldade na vida e a única coisa a fazer é encontrar a nossa força interior e lutar pelo que queremos, pelo que acreditamos e pelo que é melhor para nós e para os nossos. Também é difícil ter perspectiva nestas alturas, e essas tais dificuldades podem parecer gigantes quando na verdade são pequeninas tendo em conta o panorama maior que é a vida. Este filme ensina-nos isso mesmo - a dar valor ao que temos, a ter força para lutar pelo que queremos, e a pôr as coisas em perspectiva.

Em busca da felicidade é baseado numa história verídica, o que o torna ainda mais inspirador. É sobre o um homem que, devido às tais dificuldades que a vida às vezes nos apresenta, ficou sem-abrigo com o seu filho nas ruas de San Francisco, e como ultrapassou essa situação com perseverança.

Espero que gostem e que fiquem tão inspirados como eu fiquei!

p.s.- O menino que faz de filho é mesmo filho do Will Smith! Não é fofo?

Inspiration | My Autumn top 5 Nail Polishes

It's nearly ending, I know, but here are my top 5 nail colours for the season! As you can see, I'm a big Rimmel fan but I recently gave Barry M a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Let's start:

 1. Cobalt Blue by Barry M

This is my very first shade of strong blue and I love it! Not really a discrete colour but not too flashy either, it's perfect for the colder Autumn days.

 2. Caramel Cupcake by Rimmel

During last year's nude trend, I bought this Rimmel shade, which was the most accessible 'nude' I could find. It's become one of my favourite nail polishes because it's discrete but at the same time still gives my nails a certain je ne sais quoi.

 3. Rapid Ruby by Rimmel

Red nails - elegant, chic and classic. The challenge is to find the right shade, and Rimmel's Rapid Ruby works perfectly for me.

 4. Block your Green by Rimmel

Green is one of the big trends for the season to which I have succumbed. I really like to see this colour on my nails, but it's probably best to keep it out of any serious environments such as the workplace! 

5. Black Cherries by Rimmel

This is another of my favourites and it works like a charm every time. I like to see dark shades on nails during this time of year, and this mix between purple and brown goes really well with any style of clothing, be it casual or formal!

O Outono está quase no fim, eu sei, mas eu ainda vos venho trazer o meu Top 5 de vernizes para esta estação.  O azul e o verde (1 e 4) foram duas novas entradas na minha colecção e tratam-se de duas tendências bastante outonais. Os tons que eu comprei são mais descontraídos, pelo que não recomendo usarem-nos em situações mais formais como o local de trabalho!

O tom nude (2) foi comprado aquando da tendência e é uma óptima alternativa ao verniz transparente ou cor-de-rosa clarinho já que é super discreto mas ao mesmo tempo dá um certo je ne sais quoi às unhas. 

Agora os dois tons mais clássicos: 3 e 5. O Vermelho dispensa apresentações, mas a dificuldade está em encontrar o tom certo. Este Rapid Ruby da Rimmel funciona lindamente comigo, mas também adoro o Martha Red da Kiko. Já o híbrido entre o roxo e o castanho (5), o Black Cherries também da Rimmel, é o verniz escuro perfeito para esta altura do ano e, ao contrário do vermelho que é mais elegante, combina com todo o tipo de situações, sejam formais ou descontraídas. O tom Plum da Kiko é uma excelente alternativa!

Film Friday | Public Enemies

Who doesn't love a bit of Johnny Depp in their lives? In Public Enemies, he plays the famous bank robber John Dillinger who gets hunted down by the FBI. 

I'm not usually one for Crime and Drama films, and I confess it was Johnny who motivated me to watch this in the cinema. He is brilliant in it, as always, but the film is captivating in itself and tells a true (and exciting) story, which is always a plus for me. 

This will definitely add a touch of excitement to your weekend, in case you need it!

Quem é que não gosta do Johnny Depp? Confessem-se, vá lá. Neste filme, Inimigos Públicos, Depp faz o papel de um famoso ladrão de bancos dos anos 30, John Dillinger que, (in)felizmente, é apanhado pelo FBI.

Normalmente não vejo muitos filmes deste género - sou fiel às comédias - e confesso que fui ver este filme ao cinema por causa do Johnny. Ele está brilhante, como sempre, mas fiquei positivamente surpreendida com o filme. O facto de contar uma história verídica torna-o mais interessante e real, e pode passar por uma lição de história! :)
