Film Friday | Crna macka, beli macor

Black Cat, White Cat - definitely not your usual comedy, this was probably the first foreign film I ever saw (not counting English speaking films!). It may be a bit odd at times but trust me, it's hilarious!

The plot revolves around an arranged marriage that goes terribly wrong, with mafia, death and resurrection in the mixture. What's not to love?

Hoje trago-vos um filme um pouco diferente do que o costume - Gato Preto, Gato Branco. Vi-o no oitavo ano porque na altura tínhamos uns estagiários muito à frente que nos traziam coisas destas, e adorei. Não pensei que ia gostar por ser muito diferente do que o que estava habituada, mas o filme é tão engraçado e fora do normal que ultrapassou as minhas expectativas.

A história é sobre um casamento arranjado por interesse que corre mal, e mete máfia, morte e ressurreição à mistura! Parece-vos bem?

You're probably sick of 'Royals' by now, but go listen to Lorde's entire album, NOW! It's pure genius, and yes, pure heroine too. And as if being this talented at the tender age of sixteen wasn't enough, she also has extremely good taste - ‘Fuck no. He’s so gross.' was her reply when questioned if she would like to collaborate with David Guetta (and this was before her recent success!). Could she be any more awesome?!

Não sei se estão a par do fenómeno que é esta menina na fotografia. Com apenas 16 anos, teve um número aqui no Reino Unido e o albúm dela é divinal. Chama-se Lorde, vem da Nova Zelândia e não precisa de andar despida para as pessoas repararem nela! Como se o seu talento não bastasse, também tem muito bom gosto e nenhumas papas na língua - disse numa entrevista anterior ao seu sucesso que não colaboraria com o David Guetta porque ele é nojento. 

DIY | The Scrapbook I - Cover

I told you last week about my plan of resuming my scrapbooking activities. I made the cover when I first had the idea, and I've been carrying it around with me since. It was very simple to make and, to top it off, it cost nothing!

What I used:

- a shopper bag from Portuguese accessories brand Parfois

- an old shoe box

- white glue

What I did:

1. I started by cutting the shoe box (it was a big one of knee high boots) into two A4 pieces.

2. Then, I cut the shopper bag into two pieces and glued them to the cardboard pieces by folding it around them.

3. It's done!

Of course this is a very simple cover which I will decorate it at some point. Still, I think it's a very nice canvas to start a Scrapbook, am I right?

Na semana passado falei-vos do meu novo projecto: um Scrapbook. Não é propriamente novo porque já o comecei há algum tempo, mas só agora é que estou a arranjar motivação e disponibilidade para o continuar e, espero eu, acabar! Quando decidi começar a fazer um, a capa foi logo a primeira coisa que fiz. Foi super fácil, e não custou um cêntimo. Ora vejam lá.

O que usei:

- um saco da Parfois 

- uma caixa de sapatos

- cola branca

O que fiz:

1. Comecei por cortar a caixa de sapatos (era grande, de umas botas de cano alto) em dois pedaços de tamanho A4.

2. Cortei o saco da Parfois em dois e colei-os aos pedaços de cartão usando a cola branca.

3.  Já está!

Claro que o resultado foi uma capa muito simples e vou ter que a decorar, mas mesmo assim é um bom ponto de partida!

Being Healthy | Diary #6

At the end of the sixth week of my plan, I'm extremely happy to announce I now fit into Zara's size Small! As I've been telling you throughout all these weeks, I'm doing this to go back to my pre-uni weight and size, and it seems I'm getting there! 

For those who of you who also want to shed a few pounds, I can let you know what is working for me. My diet consists in a lot of protein (eggs, meat, milk, fish, etc) and not many carbs (cutting down on pasta, rice, potatoes, bread). Exercise wise, I go to the gym six times a week - weights four times and cardio two times. I'll explain my reasons in a different post, as it'll take a while to explain! :)

No final da sexta semana do meu plano, tenho o prazer de anunciar que me consigo enfiar num tamanho S da Zara outra vez! Como vos tenho dito, eu estou a fazer isto para voltar ao meu peso normal (antes das porcarias da universidade!), e parece que estou a chegar lá!

Se algumas de vocês estão a pensar perder alguns kilinhos, eu posso vos dizer o que está a resultar comigo. A minha dieta tem consistido em muita proteína (ovos, carne, peixe, leite, etc) e poucos hidratos de carbono (cortando na massa, arroz, batatas, pão...). Quanto ao exercício, tenho ido 6 vezes por semana ao ginásio, 4 para fazer musculação e duas para fazer cardio. Isto pode parecer estranho mas eu vou explicar tudo num post brevemente! :)

Espero que aproveitem o resto de Domingo e que comecem a semana com o pé direito!

News | Sara Sampaio on the VS Fashion Show?

I'm a big fan of portuguese model Sara Sampaio for various reasons. First of all, she's Portuguese! Second of all, she's from the North, and so am I. And finally, she's approximately my age and I can relate to her quest to make her dreams come true, moving out at an early age! She's a great role model for any young woman, giving us examples of hard work, perseverance and fierceness. 

True that! 

Now on to the news... I have a hunch she'll finally be on the VS show this year. It started when I saw a video of the American TV channel CBS about the VS Casting, where she was prominently featured. That on its own wasn't enough to convince me, but yesterday she updated her Facebook/Twitter saying 'Starting the day with happy tears! :p' and went celebrating with her friends at night! Something big must have happened and it's that time of the year, so it would make sense right? Let's hope so!

Eu sou uma grande fã da modelo portuguesa Sara Sampaio por várias razões. O facto de ser portuguesa, e do Norte ainda por cima, é uma delas. Mas, acima de tudo, é por causa do facto de ela ser uma inspiração para toda a gente que quer seguir os seus sonhos, independentemente do que eles sejam e de quão loucos soam. A Sara é um exemplo de dedicação, esforço e perseverança!

Agora as notícias... Tenho um palpite que ela vai finalmente desfilar para a Victoria's Secret este ano! Tudo começou quando vi uma reportagem do canal CBS onde falavam do casting, e em que ela foi bastante destacada. Só isso não seria grande razão para palpites, mas ontem ela actualizou o Facebook/Twitter a dizer 'A começar o dia com lágrimas de felicidade! :p', e à noite foi celebrar com os amigos! Alguma coisa grande deve ter acontecido, e é esta a altura em que esta coisa em particular pode estar a acontecer! Vamos esperar que sim, vamos todos torcer pela Sara!

Film Friday | The Croods

I'm usually bored by animation films nowadays, mostly because of the singing. Not my childhood classics like 'The Little Mermaid' or 'Beauty and the Beast' - I could watch them non-stop - but the new ones like 'Tangled', which I liked but would happily fast forward through some clips if I hadn't seen it at the cinema! That being said, 'The Croods' is the perfect example of an animation film that did not bored me at all.

This film could easily be a normal one featuring real people because the plot is so believable - and funny! I genuinely laughed out loud, and that is why I urge everyone to see this film ASAP.

A maioria dos filmes de animação de hoje em dia aborrece-me por causa da cantoria. Não me faz impressão nos clássicos da minha infância como 'A Pequena Sereia' ou 'A Bela e o Monstro', mas não me importava nada de passar essas partes às frente nos mais recentes. No entanto, 'Os Croods' vieram-me trazer de volta a alegria de ver um filme de animação e é por isso que recomendo um serão com esta família peculiar!

O filme podia ter sido feito com pessoas reais, já que o guião é bastante credível. Eu ri-me, e muito, e por isso é que vos peço que vejam este filme o mais rápido possível para curarem o trauma pós semana! :P
