Travel | Paris II: Château de Versailles

Due to the fact that my life has been an ultimate chaos lately, this post is one week late. I'll try my best to do a weekly Paris post from now on so please bare with me!

The Palace of Versailles is definitely one of the most astonishing buildings I have ever seen, on the outside and on the inside, which made this visit one of my trip's highlights. It's majestic, glorious, and worthy of kings and queens or wasn't it the royal residence many years ago. The most fascinating division of the Palace for me was Marie Antoinette's bedroom, as I got slightly obsessed with her ever since I watched Sofia Coppola's film - I even bought the book that inspired it recently! The fact that that was where she escaped from when the French people were hunting them down really moved me because I'm in the pro-MA team, but more on that later.

Hope you enjoy the photos - it was hard to take good ones because there were SO many people visiting! Sadly, I don't have any on the gardens as we didn't have time to see them, but that's only an excuse to go back right? :)

Practical tip

As we had an inconvenient situation because of this - that was later solved -, I'd like to point out that you don't need to pay a ticket for the Palace if you're an European citizen under the age of 26! The gardens are free for everyone.

Como a minha vida anda bastante atribulada ultimamente, estou um bocado atrasada com este post das fotos de Paris. Vou tentar o meu melhor para vos mostrar as fotos restantes semanalmente, mas não se chateiem muito se não der, pode ser? :) 

Agora voltando ao assunto do dia. O Palácio de Versailles é dos edifícios mais bonitos que eu já vi, por dentro e por fora. É majestoso, lindíssimo e merecedor do estatuto de casa real, ou não tivesse sido isso mesmo durante muitos anos. A divisão que eu achei mais fascinante foi o quarto da Marie Antoinette, já que eu sou um bocadinho obcecada por esta personagem histórica desde que vi o filme da Sophia Coppola - até comprei o livro que inspirou o filme, vejam lá! O facto de ter sido de lá que ela escapou quando os franceses queriam ver cabeças a rolar comoveu-me, já que eu sou pró MA - mas esse assunto fica para depois.

Espero que gostem das fotos - foi muito difícil tirar algumas decentes porque aquilo estava cheio de gente. Infelizmente não tenho nenhumas do jardim porque não chegámos a tempo de ver tudo, mas isso é só outra desculpa para voltar não é? :)

Practicalidades

Só para clarificar um detalhe que nos causou um bocado de transtorno - todos os cidadãos europeus de idade igual ou inferior a 26 anos não pagam bilhete para ver o palácio! O acesso ao jardim é grátis para toda a gente.

As most people nowadays, I take loads of pictures with my camera and phone, but they all stay in my laptop or external drive. Scrapbooking came from the urge of wanting to see those captured moments out here in the physical world. But you could just buy an album, I hear you saying... Well, when I made the decision of making a scrapbook, I was in my second year of uni and in desperate need of a crafty escape from all the essaying and studying! 

I haven't made much progress since my decision was made two years ago, but I'm now determined to continue my scrapbooking journey. Mostly because with the start of a full-time job comes the lack of creative outlet again... So I decided to take you through the steps I'll take to complete my very first Scrapbook. And since I am a complete beginner, you'll have the most comprehensive Scrapbooking guide in history. 

Any tips or advice are very much welcome if any pros are reading!

Como a maioria das pessoas hoje em dia, eu tiro milhares de fotografias por ano que ficam guardadas digitalmente e nunca passam para o mundo físico. A decisão de fazer um Scrapbook nasceu da vontade de ver esses momentos capturados cá fora, mas de uma forma especial. Ao contrário do que acontece quando se compra um álbum de fotografias, fazer um scrapbook é algo mais personalizado mas que também dá muito trabalho. No entanto, as artes manuais que esta actividade requer são excelente escape criativo para vos ajudar a relaxar depois de um dia cheio. Além disso, sabe muito melhor quando somos nós a fazer, não é verdade?

Já ando há quase dois anos nisto porque sou daquelas pessoas que deixa tudo para depois. Mas agora estou decidida a recomeçar e acabar, até porque acho que vou precisar de alguma coisa do género nesta nova fase da minha vida. Vou relatar aqui a minha viagem no mundo do scrapbooking, e como sou um zero à esquerda nisto, podem esperar o guia mais detalhado de sempre.

News | Kate Bosworth for Topshop

Kate Bosworth has done it again. After her collaboration with Topshop for a Festival themed collection, she has now lend her coveted styling knowledge to create the perfect winter wardrobe.

I'm a fan of Kate's style, it being in the casual chic midst that I much adore. Jeans, sweaters and casual dresses mixed with smart skirts, classic shoes and timeless bags. She is living proof that you can be stylish without having to look too flashy or dressed up.  

However, as much as I think I identify with Kate's style, I found it challenging to pick something I liked from the collection. The pieces are a mix of feminine and masculine vibes, ranging from oversized tops to skinny leather trousers. And speaking of leather, there is a lot of it. Everything seems a lot bolder and brighter than what I'm used to seeing Kate wear. She was only a designer consultant for the collection though, so maybe there is a lot more Topshop than Kate in it?

Anyway, here are the only three items of the collection that convinced me. What about you? Will you be buying anything from the collection?

A Topshop é uma das minhas marcas preferidas desde que vim viver para Inglaterra, e é definitivamente das mais irreverentes que eu já vi. A mais recente colaboração deles é com a Kate Bosworth, que ajudou a criar o closet de inverno perfeito.

Eu sou fã do estilo da actriz (podem vê-lo nas fotos acima), já que ela anda muito pelo casual chic e mistura na perfeição elementos clássicos e elegantes com peças descontraídas. No entanto, quando vi a colecção, fiquei um pouco desiludida. Não me pareceu que os artigos tivessem muito a ver com o que normalmente a vejo a usar - não só não transmitem a descontração do estilo dela, a meu ver, como alguns são também demasiado berrantes. 

Em cima podem ver as três únicas coisas que gostei. Vejam a colecção toda aqui e digam-me o que acham!

Being Healthy | Diary #5

 With the exception of a (deserved!) cupcake midweek, I've been exceptionally good lately. I guess the results I've been feeling and seeing really give you the motivation to keep going and try harder. It's true what they say - the hardest part is to start. So, my advice for anyone who wants to make a change in their life, fitness related or not, is do it!

Anyhow, I've been telling you I have some news and the time to share them has come! I will finally start a full-time job on Monday. Even though it's not my ideal job - far from it - it's something interesting that will keep me busy and, most importantly, give me the funds I need to get on to a Masters course next year. I'm hoping this won't affect the blog, but if it does you'll have to excuse the grow-up here!

  Tip of the week

- If you want to make changes in your life, just do it (fitness related or not!). The hardest part is to start!

 Com a excepção de um (merecido!) cupcake a meio da semana, eu tenho sido extremamente bem comportada ultimamente. Os resultados que tenho visto e sentido dão-me motivação e força para continuar e dar mais de mim para atingir os meus objectivos. É verdade o que se costuma dizer, o que custa é começar. Por isso, aqui vai um conselho para quem quer ver mudanças nas suas vidas, sejam relacionadas com a imagem ou não: começam agora e mandem as desculpas passear.

Passando a outros assuntos, eu tenho dito que tenho novidades e aqui vão elas. A partir de Segunda-Feira vou ser uma trabalhadora (paga!) a tempo inteiro! Não é o meu emprego de sonho, longe disso, mas é minimamente interessante e vai-me ajudar - financeiramente - a atingir os meus objectivos já que vou poder juntar dinheiro para o mestrado que quero fazer. Não acho que isto vá afectar o blog mas se isso acontecer, vão ter que desculpar aqui a crescida!

 - Se queres fazer mudanças na tua vida, não esperes nem mais um dia. Começa agora!

Inspiration | Casual Chic

Even though I called this post 'Inspiration', this is half my wish list as well. I am absolutely obsessed with these Miss Selfridges Shoes, although I have a slightly similar pair you can see here. But aren't they a slice of heaven?

Skinny jeans are something I cannot live without, and I'm very tempted to try on the new Levi's Revel. I live in my Levi's ID Curve because they're very flattering and comfortable, so it's only fair that I go in to see how these ones fit!

The turtleneck sweater is starting to grow on me again, after I vouched against them many years ago. This one from Topshop looks perfect because of its slouchiness, being a perfect fit for a casual outfit.

What do you think of the outfit inspiration/wish list? Too casual or spot on?

Apesar de eu ter chamado Inspiração a este post, isto é também uma espécie de wish list. Estou completamente apaixonada por estes sapatinhos desde que os vi na loja, mas já tenho uns muito parecidos que podem ver aqui. São lindos, não são?

Skinny Jeans são uma peça que não pode faltar no meu armário, e é por isso que estou tentada a ir experimentar as novas calças da Levi's, as Revel. Eu vivo praticamente nas minhas ID Curve porque são super confortáveis, e estou muito curiosa para ver como estas se comparam!

As camisolas de gola alta parecem estar de volta depois de muitos anos na reforma. Eu excluí-as do meu armário há alguns anos, mas agora está me a dar uma vontade de as resgatar. Esta da Topshop chamou-me à atenção por ser ligeiramente oversized e dar aquela casual vibe.

Film Friday | The Nightmare Before Christmas

With this being the Halloween weekend, it's only appropriate that my film suggestion takes that in to consideration. And because I am incapable of watching a horror film, here goes a child version of a Halloween evening!

I watched this film in my English class during middle school, and I remember not understanding it very well. I'll be re-watching it this weekend, so I can't really tell you much about it. An IMDB classification of 8 out 10 should be a good clue on how good this film is though.

Já que o próximo fim-de-semana ainda tem cheiro a Halloween, é bastante apropriado que a minha sugestão se enquadre nesta festividade. E como sou incapaz de ver filmes de terror, aqui vai uma versão infantil de um filme de Halloween!

Eu vi este filme numa aula de Inglês no ciclo, e lembro-me de não o perceber muito bem. Vou revê-lo este fim-de-semana, por isso não vos posso falar muito sobre ele. Tem uma classificação de 8 em 10 no IMDB,  o que é uma boa pista sobre a sua qualidade!
