Paris Fashion Week is still in full swing and I bet I'm not the only whishing to be there. As usual, there's a lot going on, both on and off the runaway. Here are my top highlights of PFW so far.
1. Karlie Kloss
This girl has been on fire for a while now, and she doesn't show signs of slowing down. I wasn't a big fan at first - maybe because she makes me feel like a failure, having the same age as me! - but I'm starting to grow real admiration for her. Probably one of the most hardworking models out there, she is everywhere from runaway shows, to campaigns, charity events, Angel duty... It may be a good life, but it requires hardwork nonetheless. Tumbs up for her style, as she always looks classy and flawless - just look at this at this monochromatic tailored emsemble and you'll fall in love too!
2. Rosie's back!
After dedicating some time to her M&S lingerie line, the sexy English Rose is back. She walked the Balmain Runway show like she'd never stopped doing it in the first place - and she never shoud have! She looks fabulous in both outfits, and I can't decide on my favourite. Miss Huntington-Whiteley also looked gorgeous at the after party - and didn't even bother to change shoes.
3. Femen's protest at Nina Ricci's Show
Two activits from the feminist group Femen stormed into Nina Ricci's Fashion show, to topless-ly protest against the harsh nature of the industry. Even though I respect everyone's right to protest and to fight for what they believe in, I also understand how much time, work and dedication goes in to each fashion show, and how important they are for the industry that employs millions of people worldwide. Everyone knows the industry is far from perfect, but is this the way forward? Very few things have an impact on people nowadays, and I'm sure that for many these two girls were just another two in a series of similar protests that go on everyday, everywhere. They didn't point the public's attention to a particular subject, but merely stated what everyone else knows. And they didn't even do it in a constructive way, offering practical solutions, or ways out of said unspecified problem. They could take some lessons from the next highlight on the list...
4. Rick Owens' Show
This is the perfect example of an effective way to help solve problems in the Fashion industry - well done Rick! Instead of using the usual white, tall and thin models to showcase his clothes, the designer opted for real women who represent the variety of the non-fashion world. But they weren't just walking around. They were dancers, allegedly recruited from American sororities, and performed a dance called Step. Representing everything from diversity and inclusion to fierceness and courage, this show is definitely a step forward in fashion's long way to becoming a more accepting industry.
