Film Friday | Before Sunset

It's Friday and I'm back with a film suggestion for your evening or weekend!

Today I recommend the sequel of last week's film:

Before Sunset

After watching the first film, you should be curious as to what happened to the two lovebirds. Well, you're in luck - the second film tells you all about it. Two things about the film I love:

1. You can see how they grew up, and what they became. I think we all change, even if just a little, when we grow up. Maybe we shouldn't, but that's life, and this film shows how two young people shaped up into adults.

2. The characters are the same. Don't you hate when they make a second or third film and change the characters? The worst is when it's the same character with a different actor, but it's still pretty bad when a character vanishes and is replaced by another, i.e. Transformers 3, where did you go Miss Fox??

É sexta-feira e por isso venho com uma sugestão para o vosso serão ou para o fim-de-semana.

Esta semana sugiro o filme 'Before Sunset'.

Este filme é a continuação do da semana passada, Before Sunrise, e acho que se viram esse com certeza ficaram com curiosidade de saber o que aconteceu aos dois pombinhos.

Duas coisas que adoro neste filme:

1. Mostra como as pessoas mudam ao crescer. Eu acho que todos nós mudamos quando crescemos, nem que seja um bocadinho, e este filme ilustra isso na perfeição.

2. As personagens e os actores são os mesmos. Eu detesto quando mudam personagens ou actores nas sequelas, e isso até chega a ser motivo para eu não ver o filme de todo. Nesta sequela fica tudo como devia estar.

Food | Afternoon treat

Hello everyone!

So I haven’t been to the beach or anything, but since the weather got slightly better yesterday, I decided to prepare this refreshing treat for my mum and I. I got the idea from this place in Manchester, Richmond Tea Rooms, as I went there last week to meet friends and had their lovely fruity Iced Tea. I basically tried copying it, and it came out pretty good. Here’s the recipe – although I’m not sure you can call it a recipe when you’re talking about tea!

I used Tetley’s Red Fruit Burst, but any fruity tea will probably do. Start by making tea as you normally would, preferably in jar. Then let it cool for a while - add some ice if you’re in a hurry. Cut two or three lemon slices and squeeze the juice into the jar. Add a spoon of honey and a few berries if you have them – and voilà!

Refreshing and healthy… who needs Coca-Cola now?

Olá a todas(os)!

Já que o tempo decidiu ficar meio estranho quando eu cheguei a Portugal, ainda não fui à praia, nem piscina, nem nada… No entanto, ontem como estava uma tarde bastante agradável, decidi fazer este miminho para mim e para a minha mãe. J

Esta ideia veio de um Iced Tea que bebi num tea room em Manchester na semana passada, pelo que isto é uma tentativa de o imitar. Não saiu nada mal devo dizer...

Usei o chá da Tetley Explosão de Frutos Vermelhos, mas qualquer chá de frutas deve dar. Faz o chá normalmente, de preferência usando um jarro, e deixa arrefecer – se estiveres com pressa, adiciona umas pedras de gelo. Corta um bocadinho de limão e espreme para dentro do jarro. Adiciona também uma colher de mel e frutos vermelhos se os tiveres – e voilá!

Refrescante e muito saudável! Quem é que vai beber coca cola agora??

Going to Paris in August - exciteeed!

Pink nails - love it or hate it?

Just a quick post to say... I’m hooooome! Just so you know, home is near Braga, in Portugal. I arrived last night and so far I haven’t done anything summery, since the weather is not that great. The pictures summarise my time at home so far perfectly - manicure and Paris research! I’m currently buying tickets online to go see John Legend in Lisbon this weekend so things are looking up!

Um post rápido só para dizer que já cheguei a Portugal! O tempo não está grande coisa por isso não fiz nada de interessante (para já!). As fotos traduzem o que fiz em casa até agora - manicure e um pouco de pesquisa para a minha viagem a Paris! Vou agora comprar os bilhetes para ir ver o John Legend a Lisboa, por isso as férias estão a começar a melhorar :P

Film Friday | Before Sunrise

Weekends are the time for relaxation and what better way to enter it than with a good film? Well, there are better ways but this is a pretty good one as well. :p

With this is mind, I decided to create this feature, Film Friday. Every Friday I'll suggest a good film for you to watch, either on Friday or throughout the weekend. I usually go for comedies, although my preferences are changing - must be adulthood.

Here's my first Film Friday suggestion:

Before Sunrise

This is an amazing film, the first out of three. In fact, I've watched it a while ago but I remembered it because the third one was released recently (I haven't watched it!).

It's about an American boy who's interrailing around Europe, alone, and a French girl who's also travelling on the same train. He convinces her to get out of the train with him and spend the night together. They then walk around Vienna and talk about anything and everything and the rest is history - you'll just have to watch it.

It's a beautiful film that will certainly inspire to not let any opportunities go. Spending the night in Vienna with stranger never seemed so appealing... Hope you like it!

Os fins-de-semana foram feitos para relaxar e há coisa melhor do que um filme numa sexta à noite? Até há, mas um filmezinho até não calha mal, digam lá :p

Foi por isto que decidi criar esta rubrica aqui no blog, Film Friday. Basicamente, todas as sextas vou postar aqui uma recomendação para vocês verem na Sexta à noite ou durante o vosso fim-de-semana. Normalmente costumo ver comédias mas os meus gostos estão a mudar um bocadinho - deve ser a idade.

Aqui vai a minha primeira recomendação:

Antes de Amanhecer

Este filme é o primeiro de três, e vi-o por mero acaso há uns anos atrás quando estava a fazer zapping e estava a dar na RTP2. Lembrei-me dele porque o terceiro filme saiu há pouco tempo - mas eu ainda não o vi!

O filme é sobre um rapaz americano e uma rapariga francesa que se conhecem num comboio e passam uma noite juntos a vaguear por Viena. Vão ter que ver se quiserem saber o resto!

Eu gosto particularmente deste filme porque me inspira a nunca deixar oportunidades passar. Quando elas desaparecem, não há volta a dar, e uma pequena coisa pode mudar tudo... Espero que gostem!

My Graduation

As I told you in this post last week, I have graduated! It was an amazing day spent with my family and my boyfriend, celebrating the outcome of three years of hard work. My fellow graduates and I got to forget about what the hell we're going to do with our lives and just appreciate the fact that we have just finished a f*cking degree!

I didn't know what to wear, but after reading a few tips online, I decided to go for a blue Topshop dress. Everything I read said you should wear something formal and conventional, but I didn't want to look boring, and I though this shade of blue was enough to make me feel special. My plan was to pair it with a statement necklace, like Dr. Mindy Lahiri did here, but the ones I found didn't look nice so I just went with my white gold necklace - I think it looks classy, right? The bracelet is from a little business of one of my friends, G!rls. I bought it a while ago because I loved the concept of mixing something so classic like pearls, with screw-nuts, which tend to be associated with masculinity and heavy work.

Make-up wise, I went for quite a simple look but had pink lipstick on. My nails were also a bright orangey-pink - all to cheer up an otherwise plain outfit!

To celebrate, we went to Rosso, here in Manchester. It was lovely, the food was amazing, as well as the service and the atmosphere - totally recommend it for a special occasion, it's a bit pricey otherwise. They even gave me a desert saying 'congrats' after they knew I was graduating - how sweet! We also went to Cloud 23 at the Hilton, which has an incredible view and pretty good cocktails.

I LOVED it, as you can probably tell, and I'm very jealous of everyone who still has to do it. Want me to go instead? ;)

Como vos disse aqui, tive a minha cerimónia de formatura na semana passada. Foi um dia fantástico, passado com a minha família que veio de Portugal e com o meu namorado a celebrar os três anos de muito trabalho! Além disso, foi um dia em que eu e os meus colegas pudemos esquecer os planos para o futuro e apreciar o que atingimos até agora.

Não sabia o que vestir, mas depois de ler umas coisas online, decidi-me por este vestido da Topshop. Estava a pensar usar um statement necklace, com a Dra. Lahiri usou aqui, mas acabei por não encontrar nenhum que eu gostasse e usei o meu colar de ouro branco - o que acham? A pulseira que usei é de um pequeno negócio de uma amiga minha, G!rls. Já a comprei há algum tempo porque adorei o conceito de misturar um clássico associado a feminilidade e glamour, as 'pérolas', com porcas, que são associadas a trabalho pesado e nada glamoroso.

A maquilhagem também foi bastante simples, mas usei batom cor-de-rosa e unhas alaranjadas para alegrar um bocado o look.

Para festejar, houve um jantar num restaurante aqui em Manchester e cocktails no bar do Hilton, que é no 23º andar e tem uma vista fantástica!

ADOREI este dia, e se pudesse não me importava nada de o reviver!
