Victoria's Secret Challenge

Numa altura em que abundam os posts sobre ficar em forma na blogosfera, aqui vai mais um.

Não tenho estado contente com o meu corpo há ja algum tempo, tanto porque parei de fazer exercício mas também porque comecei a pensar que podia comer o que me apetecesse. Claro que estava enganadíssima.

A alimentação aqui em Inglaterra também não ajuda. Um almoço típico fora é uma sandes, sumo e batatas fritas. Por acaso não fiz disso hábito, mas as escolhas não são muito variadas.

Também dá uma trabalheira encontrar peixe fresco, por exemplo, pelo menos em Manchester. Só conheço uma peixaria, que apesar de não ficar muito longe, não dá muito jeito para ir com a excepção do fim-de-semana. 

Tudo isto para explicar que queria mudar o meu estilo de vida para voltar a sentir-me bem comigo mesma. Já tinha me sentido fora de forma antes, mas nunca como desta vez. 

E foi assim que o Desafio Victoria's Secret nasceu. Passo a explicar o nome. Para me dar motivação, o meu namorado fez uma aposta comigo. Se eu consegui atingir os meus objectivos até ao Verão, ele dá-me um biquíni VS, já que eu não me calava a falar deles.

O vídeo é só para inspirar, não tenho ambições assim tão grandes! :p

I know you're probably sick of reading about getting back into shape this time of year but brace yourselves - here goes another post.

I haven't been happy with my body in while. It's not the first time this has happened, but it's different this time. I really felt I needed to take some serious measures soon.

And so the Victoria's Secret Challenge was born. I wouldn't stop talking about VS bikinis, so my boyfriend made a bet with me. He'll give a VS bikini if I achieve my results before Summer. Win win situation!

This isn't what I'm hoping to look like, obviously, but it gives some inspiration, don't you think?

Introducing Project Cinderela

No meu blog anterior, comecei o Projecto Cinderela. Passo a explicar.

Como estou no meu último ano de universidade, vou ter uma gala em Junho. Apaixonada por alta costura como sou, não encontrava vestidos que gostasse a um preço que fosse acessível, afinal de contas é 'só' um baile...

E foi então que descobri a solução perfeita. A minha mãe trabalha no ramo têxtil, e conseguiu que uma senhora me faça o vestido. Faltava-me a melhor parte: escolher o modelo e o tecido!

I’ve started a project recently: my own dress. I’ll have Graduation Ball in June and after searching for dresses in various websites, I came to the conclusion they were all very expensive and the ones that weren’t I hated. As my mum works in the textile industry, I found a way of making my own dress for the ball. I won’t actually make it, but I will have a say in the design without the price of haute couture.

Only thing left was decide on the model and fabric.

I've already decided but any guesses?

 

Girl Crush | Jennifer Lawrence

Any Lawrence fans out there? I don't even know why I ask, the answer must obviously be yes.

She's definitely my main girl crush, I mean, look at her...

Anyway, here's the poster for the second film of the trilogy, Catching Fire. 

She looks beautiful - as always - but the dress is maybe a bit too much. Any thoughts?

Can't wait for the trailer!! Is anyone else as excited as I am?

Here comes the sun!

The sun stopped by in Manchester today, and you could instantly tell in people's faces. There is a lot I don't particularly like about this country, but the general happiness when the sun comes out is truly amazing.

Hoje houve sol em Manchester, um acontecimento milenar. 

Admito, há imensas coisas neste país que me irritam e que não percebo, mas a alegria na cara das pessoas quando o céu está azul é fantástica. Sempre que volto a Portugal levo este sentimento comigo, mas depois de 3 dias de sol volto a achar que é a coisa mais normal do mundo. 

É verdade, só damos valor ao que temos depois de o perdermos.

Events | Manchester Fashion Network Seminars - Tips on how to make it!

Last week I attended the Making it series, hosted by the Manchester Fashion Network. It was event aimed at people who want to make it in fashion, covering everything from design to buying. 

First of all, this is what I wore!

My outfit: Jumper: Boohoo; Shirt: Massimo Dutti; Skirt: Massimo Dutti; Boots: Topshop; Envelope Bag: Parfois.

(I'm sorry for the sucky photos but I'm still getting the hang of things.)

Since it was an event with employers, I decided to dress smart, but not too smart. I loved the combination of dark and light blue plus the wine. My tights were black and my mom hates to see black and dark blue together but we'll just keep it to ourselves.

Now back to business. If you wanted to make it to the event and you couldn't, here are 10 tips by the ones who made it:

1. Be perseverant

2. Think independetly

3. Be enthusiastic

4. Gain experience where and whenever you can - big companies, small companies, blogs, pop-up shops...

5. Never stop learning - online tuturials, courses, etc.

6. Build relationships, network!

7. Don't take rejection too personally.

8. Be ambitious but respectful at the same time.

9. Be confident - make sure you want it.

10. Work hard!

It was very interesting to hear from the people in the business, especially for me because I don't do anything related to fashion at uni. And according to one of the speakers, be reassured you don't need to as long as you want it badly and are willing to work twice as hard as those who do!

Na semana passada fui a umas palestras promovidas pela Manchester Fashion Network, em que designers, buyers ou donos de pequenas empresas falaram da sua experiência no mundo da Moda.

Aqui ficam 10 dicas para ser bem-sucedido/a no mundo da Moda:

1. Sê perseverante

2. Pensa com a tua cabeça - não te deixes influenciar e mantém-te fiel a ti próprio/a.

3. Sê entusiástico/a

4.Arranja experiência onde puderes - seja no teu blog, numa empresa grande ou pequena, a fazer as tuas próprias peças se esse for o caso...

5. Nunca pares de aprender - consegues encontrar montes de tutoriais online a custo zero.

6. Cultiva relações com pessoas interessadas ou que já estão na indústria, nunca se sabe quando esse contacto vai dar jeito.

7. Não leves rejeições a peito - só te vai fazer mal. Tenta aprender com cada mau momento.

8. Sê ambicioso/a mas nunca desrespeites as pessoas que estão acima de ti - afinal de contas eles têm mais experiência.

9. Tem confiança a ti próprio/a, tens que ser o teu primeiro fã.

10. Trabalha no duro - custa mas tem que ser!
